SEA GAMES 2013: Kimura Confident Despite String of Defeats
VIENTIANE (4 Oct 2013) – Despite suffering a string of defeats in their recent tour of Thailand, the coach of the Laos national Under-23 team Kokichi Kimura remained confident that the team can shape up in time for the SEA Games. The Laos U23 played three friendlies last month in Thailand which resulted in identical 2-1 losses to both Suphanburi FC and Buriram FC before being thumped 5-2 by Chonburi FC in the third game.
“The players learned some good pointers,” said Kimura (pix). “It was a good experience playing against the big clubs from Thailand. All the players got the chance to see action which was important.
“We lost mostly through the set-pieces, so this is obviously one area which we need to work on.”
The SEA Games will be held in Myanmar on 11-22 December.
